A good place to start is the Literary Reference Center database which includes biographical information. We also have a set of print books in the library called Dictionary of Literary Biography. DLB has lengthy biographical entries on many, many authors and is an excellent source for information about an author's life and work. Stop by the service desk and ask for a librarian to help you find the DLB.

If you need a book length biography on an author, try doing a subject search in the Sinclair library catalog. Be sure to use the author's last name, then first name when you're doing a subject search. For example: twain mark

If you don't find a book on your author, try a subject search in the OhioLINK catalog. Some authors have many entries. In that case, look for the subheading "biography." For example: Twain, Mark, 1835-1910 -- Biography

You can request books through the OhioLINK catalog to be sent to a Sinclair Library for you to pick up.
Let us know if you are having any trouble finding what you need. The librarians will be happy to help you.
