The APA style pattern for an article is:

Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (year). Title of article. Title of Periodical, volume
    number (issue number), pp-pp. doi:xx.xxxxxxxxxx

Here's an example:

Verhovshek, G. J. (2009, Mar/Apr). Reporting signs and symptoms to support medical
    necessity. CMA Today, 42(2), 10-11.

If a DOI (direct object identifier) has been assigned to the content, include that in the reference.

Example with DOI, eight or more authors:

Campbell, B., Wilborn, C., La Bounty, P., Taylor, L., Nelson, M. T., Greenwood, M., & ... Kreider,
     R. B. (2013). International Society of Sports Nutrition position stand: energy drinks. Journal
of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, 10(1), 1-16. doi:10.1186/1550-2783-10-1

The library has several books that explain APA style and you'll find an APA quick guide on our LibGuide for Citation Styles. If you need help with formatting your reference, stop by the Writing Center.
